Uptick in Mortgage Application Activity at the End of March

For the week ending March 27, 2015, mortgage application activity ended the month on an uptick. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey, mortgage loan application volume increased by 4.6% over the previous week on a seasonally adjusted basis. The Purchase Index climbed by 6% compared to the previous week and was 8% higher than the same time last year. Compared to the week before, the Refinance Index rose by 4%.

In response to the survey results, MBA Vice President of Research and Economics, Lynn Fisher, expressed optimism that the data was “perhaps signaling that households are finally ready to begin the home-buying season.” View the full press release at http://bit.ly/1MAIddr.
