County seat of Bonneville County, Idaho Falls is located in eastern Idaho. With an estimated 2013 population of 58,292 residents, Idaho Falls is the largest city in the region and helps make up the Idaho Falls-Blackfoot Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), the third largest MSA in the state. Founded in 1864 and incorporated in 1891, Idaho Falls has grown to become the regional hub for healthcare, travel and commerce.

One of the many shining gems in Idaho Falls is their greenbelt that runs along the Snake River as it makes its way through the heart of the city. The greenbelt’s approximately 6 miles of paved trail leads pedestrians, joggers and bicyclists through scenic areas of the river and by the 22’ waterfall. There are plenty of places to picnic, benches to sit on, and geese and ducks who enjoy being fed by visitors. Fishing is also allowed on the greenbelt by those who are so inclined. Because the community takes great pride in the greenbelt, the City of Idaho Falls maintains the area and “often receives donations and grants which allow for occasional expansion.”
