NerdWallet.com sought to identify the top 100 most affordable cities to live in the United States. Creating cost of living index scores from the Council for Community and Economic Research’s 2013 Annual Report data, NerdWallet compared each metropolitan area to the “national average of 100.” The lower the cost of living index number a metro area received, the higher it ranked in the affordability scale. Ranking 5th place was Idaho Falls, Idaho with a cost of living index of 85.6. Also making its appearance in the top 100 most affordable cities was Twin Falls, Idaho who ranked 62nd with a cost of living index of 90.2.
