The US Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development released their new home sales report this week. New single-family home sales reached a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 437,000 in January, 15.6% greater than December sales which numbered to 378,000. In comparison to January 2012, when new home sales were 339,000, January 2013 sales were 28.9% greater.
What is more, the report indicated that all four regions in the United States saw increases in monthly and annual new home sales. “The monthly and yearly increases were 27.6 percent and 54.2 percent in the Northeast; 11.1 percent and 13.6 percent in the Midwest; 3.2 percent and 16.6 percent in the South and 45.3 percent and 60.3 percent in the West.” To read more, and to view an interactive graph by Mortgage News Daily, go to http://bit.ly/13qX2YI.
