What Makes Us the Employer of Choice? Our Sabbatical Program

“My two best accomplishments in life, my son, Hunter, who is now 17 and will be a Senior in High School. And my niece (who is like my daughter) who is working on her Masters at Antioch University in Seattle. They are why I am who I am!!”

Priscilla Miller, Administrative Assistant for Alliance Title’s Coeur d’Alene, Idaho branch, shares her ‘Journey of the Sabbatical’:

“As I walked out of the office on May 17th with the realization that I would not be back until Monday, June 18th, I was truly unsure how to feel. Any of you that know me know that I absolutely love my job. It was tough to think that I would not be returning for a month. So, with that said, my adventure began.

Maybe not like many of you would think with an entire month off. If you were in my shoes, you may have wondered what you would do with the time off. ‘Should I climb in Joshua Tree?’ ‘Shall I take that long awaited cruise through the Mediterranean?’ ‘Shall I go to California and hit Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Universal Studios?’ While those are all wonderful things to do, my first thought as a single mom was to spend time with my amazing son, Hunter, who is now 17 years old.

I took the first week of my Sabbatical and travelled to Seattle to visit my niece to help her with her wedding plans. But, when I returned home, Hunter knew it was our time. Simply said, it was a joy to be together and laugh. We played many rounds of Mario Kart. Just being able to spend time together as a family was the best gift Alliance could have given me.

So, even though I didn’t take any big adventures on my Sabbatical, big memories were made as a family. I am very grateful for the time I was given to spend with my most precious gift – my son, Hunter.”
