Summer Safety Tips for the Swimming Pool

Swimming pools are a good way to cool off during the summer heat and a place where families create great summer memories. Unfortunately, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that “Drowning is the sixth leading cause of unintentional injury for people of all ages, and the second leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14 years.”

Teaching children and other family members how to swim is the first line of prevention of swimming pool injuries. While this will not entirely protect children, as accidents and drowning can occur in a matter of minutes, supervision by a lifeguard or a proficient adult swimmer can make the difference between a pleasant swimming pool experience and a tragedy.
