The New Median Income of Realtors in a Tough Housing Market

According to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), the median income of Realtors has decreased “by almost 35% over the last eight years.” NAR’s vice president of research, Paul Bishop, states that “The biggest factor in what we’re seeing with Realtor income really depends on what we’re seeing in the overall market. How many transactions and what the properties are selling for will determine what professionals are making.”

Even as home sale have risen comparably in 2011 over the last two years, with home values and prices continuing to decrease, Bishop believes that “transaction volume is unlikely to offset a drop in income”.
