New-Home Sales Increase Significantly in December 2010, Particularly in the West

The overall increase in sales of newly constructed, single-family homes rose 17.5% in December nationwide.  The largest increase in new-home sales occurred in the Western United States at an impressive 71.9% gain while the Midwest gained 3.2% and the South gained 1.8%.  A 5% decline in new-homes sales occurred in the Northeast.
